How to use this tool

  1. Select one PNG, JPEG or WebP image. The editor shows its original pixel dimensions.
  2. Use Scale to choose a percentage, or Exact Dimensions to enter a width and height.
  3. Keep Maintain aspect ratio enabled to avoid stretching the subject.
  4. Select Resize, check the result dimensions, then download. Use Change Image to start again.

Settings, examples and limitations

A 4,000 × 3,000 photo reduced to 1,200 pixels wide becomes 1,200 × 900 when the aspect ratio is locked. The calculation is new height = original height × new width ÷ original width. Pixel dimensions do not specify an exact file size; encoding and image content also affect the bytes.

CutImage uses browser image resampling with a high-quality setting, a progressive fallback and a sharpening pass. It does not use a dedicated Lanczos library. Results can differ between browsers. Enlarging a small image cannot recover missing detail.

This tool handles one source image at a time. Canvas exports do not preserve EXIF metadata. Transparency is retained when the output is PNG or WebP; JPEG output uses white for transparent areas. Read the web resizing guide before preparing responsive images.
