CUTIMAGE RESOURCES

Frequently asked questions

Answers about supported formats, file size limits, privacy and output quality.

Do you upload my images?
No. Selected image bytes are processed with browser APIs on your device. The website still makes normal hosting and third-party resource requests. Read the privacy policy for the difference.
Which output formats does the converter offer?
PNG, JPEG and WebP. Other formats may be readable as input if your browser supports them, but CutImage does not encode AVIF, GIF, BMP or JPEG XL.
Will PNG make my JPEG look better?
No. PNG can store decoded pixels without adding JPEG compression, but it cannot recover detail that was already lost. It may create a larger file. See the format guide.
Why is the compressed file larger?
The source may already be optimized, or the new format may be less efficient for those pixels. PNG often grows when created from a photograph. Compare sizes before replacing your original.
Can I reach an exact file size?
The JPEG and WebP target search tries quality settings at or below your limit. Some images cannot fit even at the lowest quality. Reduce dimensions if the destination allows it. See the file size guide.
Does resize support batches?
The resize tool handles one source image at a time. The compressor supports multiple files. Conversion and tracing also handle one source at a time.
How do I resize without stretching?
Keep Maintain aspect ratio enabled in Resize. For a different shape, crop first. Enlarging a small image does not restore missing detail.
Is EXIF metadata preserved?
Do not rely on it being preserved. Canvas exports create fresh image data and do not retain original EXIF metadata, animation or embedded color profiles.
What happens to transparency?
PNG and WebP outputs support transparency. JPEG does not; the converter and compressor fill transparent areas with white for JPEG output. Check against the intended background.
Do the favicon downloads contain ICO or a ZIP?
No. Every icon is a PNG, including the 16-pixel size. Download All saves separate files. The favicon guide shows HTML and manifest examples.
Why does a traced SVG look blocky?
The tracer uses horizontal spans or sampled color blocks rather than smooth curve fitting. The tracing grid is limited to 800 pixels along its longest edge. Simple silhouettes work better than photographs.
Why does a large image fail?
Decoded images consume much more memory than their compressed file size suggests. Try smaller dimensions, fewer batch files, or a current desktop browser. Device memory and browser limits affect the result.
Are the tools free and do they add a watermark?
The tools are free to use, require no account and do not add a watermark to exports.
How do I report a problem?
Use the contact and feedback page. Include the tool URL, browser, dimensions and steps, without posting private images in the public tracker.
